Grady painted, sculpted, and played music as “artist-in-residence” at El Taller beginning around 1986. He developed a style based on his own experiences in New York City that was also firmly rooted in the tradition and culture of his native Haiti. Meanwhile, Grady created murals and installation art at the Taller, with an eclectic group of artists known as “The Maroons”, with the "Mars Bar" art group, and with others. Sorting through Video8, Hi8, and 3/4 inch sources, the filmmakers are working with many hours of archival material spanning the time of Grady's life behind the artistic walls of El Taller.
